TOPICS FOR DISCUSSION

The role of women in society has changed rapidly over the years. Women are taking leadership positions in many spheres of life. There is need, however, to see more inclusion in the area of sports leadership. In this section, we engage women who have broken the glass ceiling in sports management and leadership, and other spheres of life.

KTTA has been instrumental in the development and the advancement of the girl child through the sport of table tennis. It does this through the ‘Let the Girls shine’ program, in partnership with Mathare Youth Sports Association, Japan’s TIAS University and Sports For Tomorrow. The program aims to have 5,000 girls under the age of 12 playing table tennis.

In this segment, we will discuss pioneers of successful sports programs that empower the girl child through sports and life skills.

We cannot underestimate the effects of psychological and physiological changes that affect women in sports. Women face unique physiological and psychological challenges. In this session, we will hear experts discuss ways in which women athletes can and have overcome these hurdles. We will also discuss the rise in doping amongst women athletes.

In this segment, we discuss various aspects of the business of sport including sponsorship and promotion, media, governance and laws affecting sport..
